BYE, BYE PACI *TAKE 2* **UPDATED**

The time has come that Cole is becoming more attached to his pacifier. He used to only have it at night when he went to bed, but lately has started asking for it alot more. He even tried to crawl into his crib on Saturday to get it. He slipped and hit his mouth on the rail. That was when I realized, we probably needed to do something. So I looked in the Farmer's Almanac and according to the moon (or maybe it's the sun...or whatever the Almanac uses), the 23rd of this month(October) is the best day to wean animals and children. So as of 12:01 am this morning, paci went bye, bye. I snuck into Cole's room and took it like a thief in the night. Every paci we have went into the trash, so there is no turning back now. He woke up a little before 6:00am (he normally sleeps til 7:30am) and played in his bed til about 6:30am before he started yelling for me to come get him. Hopefully he will take a good nap today for Mrs. Kim. I am so worried he is going to have a breakdown tonight when he figures out his paci is gone.
Keep your fingers crossed...
********************UPDATED********************
We are officially paci-free in our house. It only took Cole about 2 weeks to really forget about his paci. The 1st weekend without it was HELL, though. I was home by myself with him and it wore me completely out. Faron and I have been very spoiled...Cole has slept through the night (8:00pm-7:30am) since he was 8 weeks old, and by biggest fear in taking away his paci was that he would start waking up at the crack of dawn. I know I was being selfish, but I like my sleep. He did start waking up between 5:00am-6:00am, but has gradually gotten back on track and now sleeps until 7:00am. The 1st weekend we really struggled...there were early, early mornings and ALOT of screaming at nap time, both before and after. On that Sunday afternoon he woke up from his nap and was SO VERY angry. He just cried and cried for really no reason that I could figure out. After about 30 minutes, I just walked away and left him in his room. If I hadn't thrown the paci's away, I would have caved and given it back right then. After another 10-15 minutes he finally stopped crying and came out of his room just fine. I guess he just needed some time to himself. I am very glad we did this when we did. If we had waited any longer, this experience would have been MUCH worse. I am having second thoughts about giving any future babies a paci now. As for the Farmer's Almanac...it might just be full of, well, you know.

Girl, I feel ya! Both of my boys loved thier pacifier. It took both of my boys about a week to learn to comfort themselves but they did it! Cole will do it too! Hang in there!
We found a pacifier in the car a couple of months ago and Wyatt put it in his mouth and started sucking--it was so funny!

Give us an update on how it's going. I have a feeling Lucas will hang on to his a looong time! Brent keeps talking about taking it away and I keep saying, "Well, then you get to deal with him. I'm not ready to fight that battle!"

Good for you for sticking with it and not caving in. Big Props to you...

Truthfully I feel like I need my own paci at times with the house and holidays coming at me all at once!

Throwing them all away was probably the best way to do it so you didn't cave. Way to go!

Coming from someone who has one kid who loves his paci and one who WOULD NOT take one, the thought of breaking the habit doesn't sound so bad considering I have dealt with the alternative!
